Tony Gallichan is Mildly Perturbed by... The 'songs' of William 'The Shat' Shatner. Oh, and a certain claim made by Jonathan 'inaccurate wanker' Ross.

Where do I start? Hmm.

Now, I have never really been a great fan of original Star Trek - you know, the one that only lasted three years yet Trek fans still claim that Trek is the world's longest running sci fi programme. The BBC has devoted two nights to Trek. Shame they don't have the same pride about their own creation, Dr. Who. (Now, there's a surprise, lol).

Jonathan Ross on the second night claimed that Trek is the world's longest running sci fi show.

Nutbunnies!

Pants!

Idiot!

Just because he worships all things Paramount. Lets get this straight. Doctor Who is the world's longest running sci fi show. Trek does not even come close. Also it's all about guns and the American way. Well, it suits Dubya, I suppose.

Now then, on to the more important of the two subjects I am mildly perturbed by this time. Namely the seeming inability of the United Nations to enforce their own resolutions condemning Shatner's 'dramatic interpretations' of songs. Let me explain.

A couple of months ago I was doing some sound editing around my Chief Scientist's house when he decided to have a surf on the web. Horror of horrors, he discovered a cd entitled 'Spaced Out', featuring the best of Leonard Nimoy and the Shat. Once Adam and I had stopped laughing I suggested that he buy it for either Keith or Andy as an extra special Christmas present. He did and to Andy's joy the cd appeared in his stocking. As it was a Saturday night when he received it and Saturdays are the evenings that we do our planning, we decided that we ought to listen to it. Just in the interests of public safety, you understand.

Oh dear.

Oh dear oh dear.

Well, the Nimoy stuff is nothing to write home about. But the Shatner stuff, dear GOD!!!!!!!

I have to ask, was he serious about this or was he deliberately taking the piss?

At least Pertwee had talent.

The Shat's version of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds is legendary for all the wrong reasons. However, have you ever heard his version of that old favourite, Hey, Mr.Tambourine Man?

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible. Until then here is some light music. La, La la, la la la...
